Granted I'm not new to the series, and I play carefully, but there were only a few tricky bosses, and mostly I could tank through them with great stats and gear. I actually found the game to be pretty easy overall, on the first playthrough. The bosses are just decent overall, I think, although there are a few standouts. You don't have that problem in Bloodborne, although there are a lot fewer weapons to choose from there. There are still plenty of good weapons, but it's a shame there are so many duds. Some weapons have several distinct moves, some only have two or three. Also, despite the huge variety of weapons, many of them have mediocre to bad movesets, with either worse moves or just far less moves.
